Youth Rugby League

Youth Rugby is a process of developing rugby players from kindergarten through high school. It involves a pathway of development from small “7-a-side” non-contact "touch" rugby for young players, through to full “15-a-side” contact rugby for high school level teams. Youth rugby is for both boys and girls. Southern California Youth Rugby offers programs for all ages and all levels of play. Malibu Rugby has plans in the future to develop a program that provides the opportunity for all ages to participate in the sport.

The importance of developing youth rugby, for the prosperity of the sport, has never gone unrecognized by the Malibu Rugby Club. Members of our club act as both mentors and ambassadors for youth and collegiate rugby clubs in our community. Both the acting head coach and assistant coach for the Pepperdine University Rugby Club are members of the MRC. Some members of our club are also registered referees acting as both tutors and volunteers, guiding the development of rugby youth in our community.
